I am excited to release this month's Mindful meditation, including music, a first for Elumi. This might not seem like a big deal but I create all of my own content, I am constantly teaching myself new skills to provide the best possible quality. I’ve learned more about the online world in the past year than I ever thought I would and I’m constantly looking to improve what I share.⠀

I started meditating by listening to pre-recorded sessions, this was a great way for me to get into the habit of meditating as it took little effort from me and I found it easier to relax and calm my mind. It was only after my Vinyasa teacher training in 2017 that I got more accustomed to meditating on my own, as I came to understand the general “structure” of the practice and got to experience a variety of styles of meditation, and found ones that worked for me. This might be the case for you, perhaps you can’t connect to visualization, or sensing energy in your body, perhaps the hardest part of meditating is to sit in stillness? ⠀

This style of Mindful meditation is how I taught myself to become accustomed to sitting in stillness for lengthened periods of time. I would set a timer, and witness my thoughts, sensations in my body, and any emotions that came up, and each week I would set the timer for a bit longer until I no longer needed the timer and would use my intuition to sit for as long as I felt I needed at the time.⠀
